Established in 1998 Highlight began with a small team of enthusiastic operators, led by Managing Director - Steve Illidge.
Based in Cheshire UK, our core work started with local authorities, to which we have expanded and continued this great relationship.
Our service and client base have expanded over time, now providing special effects for stage, theatre, stadium and film and TV shows. We have a clear ethos in the production of all our shows ensuring the highest of standards in all areas of provision, creating the best visual effects within the stated safety parameters. Our ethos encourages our team to be creative and innovative in our approach to all shows, providing a bespoke service.
Our team is 5 core full time staff and a substantial operational crew, who service all our display, shows, installs and logistics.
Meet the Team
Steve Illidge - Managing Director
Steve is the founder of Highlight Pyrotechnics ltd and has been Managing Director since 2003. Steve has built a team of experts in fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects, product design and events management. Steve is passionate about staff development and has built a core team of people with key skills, ensuring all aspects of business and customer service are supplied to a high standard. This enables the team to have a freedom in creativity, innovation and development of products and effects for our clients. Steve is active in product design and thoroughly enjoys designing bespoke and firework effects for the special effects industry as he has a keen eye for product design. Second best is not an option in any of our products, services or service quality.
Phil Aitken - Technical Sales & Production Manager
Phil joined the Highlight team in 2003 as a crew member and since 2003 has developed his role into the technical sales and production manager role. Phil works closely with Steve on developing new products and uses his knowledge of being our key show designer to aid in the design process. Phil manages all our shows assisted by Chris Bampton and the operational crew and has managed all Highlight’s productions since 2005. As part of the technical sales team Phil works with firework wholesalers, pyrotechnics industry and the entertainment industry to service their needs.
Chris Burgess - Operations Manager & DGSA
Chris was brought into the Highlight team in 2002. Following on from 22 years working within the nuclear industry, Chris made the move to Highlight bringing his firmly established quality and safety standards, IT skill sets, legislative resources and well practiced managements skills. Chris is a certified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) and develops all our IT solutions for the business. Chris now runs our office along with the training of all our staff and is key part of our operational crew firing fireworks displays and special effects. Chris is now considered throughout the firework industry as one of the leading training providers. His cool demeanour and friendly nature means he operates well in high pressure situations.
Linda Aitken - Client Liaison
Linda joined the Highlight team in 2007, originally to help with office administration. Linda's previous experience as an events coordinator for 20 years and experience in front line customer service set her in good standing and she is now responsible for our client liaison and service quality guarantee. Linda now ensures our customers receive all the information they need from us to conduct their event, building relationship, trust and loyalty with the Highlight brand. With her thorough approach and passion for seeing smiling customers, she is a fantastic asset to the team.
Chris (Bambi) Bampton - Production Assistant
Joining the team in 2009 as a member of the operations crew, Chris is now the show production and management assistant. Chris is responsible for all production equipment and warehouses; ensuring all equipment is maintained and goods are despatched on time. Chris's attention to detail and pride in all his work makes him ideal for this role and his passion for producing the best fireworks displays is his driving force.
